Description
This wooden hairpin features a motif of a lily of the valley flower, a symbol of happiness, and a hand-held lantern. A transparent white moonstone is encased in a plump form reminiscent of a lily of the valley.
The lily of the valley petals, finished in a soft matte gold, and the leaves, smoked for an antique look, combine with the black wooden stem to create a sophisticated look. The chain tassel sways from beneath the moonstone, making a rattling sound. The long, non-slip wooden stem makes it easy to style even thick hair with just one. The simple design makes it easy to coordinate with other hairpins, and it can be worn with a charming look in both Japanese and Western styles.
Designer's thoughts
This hairpin was designed with a lily of the valley motif, creating the impression of a handheld lantern illuminating the hand. Moonstones are adorned within the bell-like petals, which give the hairpin its name, and the chain tassels extending below create a rattling sound. Moonstone is also known as the stone of love, a natural stone said to represent "success in love" and "happiness." The lily of the valley is also known as the "flower that brings happiness," and is also called "Kimikage-gusa" ("Your Shadow Grass"), as its delicate flowers, hidden in the shadows, resemble the Japanese nadeshiko (Japanese ladybird). By gently nestling close to you like the Kimikage-gusa, this hairpin is intended to serve as a beacon of light that brings happiness.
