Description
This silver netsuke features a striking contrast between the realistically sculpted sheep's skull motif and the stylized tansy flowers entwined around it.
The motif of bones, a vessel that once held life, has been sculpted to the size of a netsuke, meticulously carved down to the smallest detail. The oxidized finish tightens the overall design, evoking a beautiful form nurtured in nature. In addition, astragalus vines are entwined from the sheep bones to the bail. The finished piece evokes the reincarnation of life, as exploited plants reincarnate life from a vessel that has now died. Flowers are also placed on the back of the skull, adding to the playfulness characteristic of Kasu Studio. The flower language of astragalus represents "my happiness" and "a soothing heart." This silver accessory features a dual nature, with the flower language embedded within the rugged sheep skeleton. It can be worn as a netsuke or as a pendant by attaching it to a chain.
