Description

This retro hairpin features shiny, deep-colored fruit.

A new hairpin has been created through a collaboration between Yamamoto Bijutsu, a company that continues to tell the story of Kyoto Shippo, a traditional craft that has taken root in Kyoto since the Muromachi period, and a hairpin maker. Each piece of Shippo is carefully crafted by artisans, and while there are slight differences, no two are exactly alike. The hairpin is made using a popular wooden shaft that makes it easy to create a bun with just one piece and goes well with any fashion, so it can be worn with kimonos as well as everyday clothes.

Designer's thoughts
To make the most of the captivating brilliance and transparency of genuine cloisonné, we designed this piece with a cherry blossom motif. We created two types: one with a single, dignified cherry blossom in full bloom, and one with only a silhouette visible against the dark night. We remade the samples over and over again to recreate the exquisite color, and although it took a long time, we were satisfied with the finished product. In order to allow you to fully enjoy the charm of genuine cloisonné, we kept the beads somewhat understated while still highlighting the cloisonné. We also chose a wooden shaft so that the piece can be worn with both Japanese and Western clothing, is not too elegant, and can be worn everyday.

About handling Kyoto cloisonné Kyo-shippo enamelware may break if subjected to strong force. Please handle it with the same care as you would any glass product. After use, wipe it gently with a soft cloth before storing.
Shaft Features The friction of the wood acts as a stopper, so it is recommended for those with soft hair who find it difficult to fasten with brass. Please note that if you apply too much force, it may break. As it is a natural material, slight differences may occur between individual pieces.

*You can use just one to tie up your hair.
*When using, please hold the shaft gently.
