Drift Ice Eagle Netsuke
This silver netsuke, available only in the winter of 2015, features a Steller's sea eagle flying in to spend the winter. With its wings outstretched, the Steller's sea eagle is one of the largest wild birds found in Japan. Its talons hold tightly onto a cubic zirconia stone, as if it has just found the right spot to swoop down on the drifting ice. The body is decorated with the traditional Japanese pattern of Seigaiha (waves), which has been polished and then smoked to create three-dimensional shadows on the Seigaiha pattern. Every detail, from the characteristic large beak to the movement of the wings, has been painstakingly crafted to express this. A beautiful and heroic accessory that shows off a variety of expressions as it sways around your chest.
